MIRROR WITH A MEMORY
Director: Paul Daly
Producer: Jacqui Davies
Sometimes film is a mirror, all film is memory. This film is both mirror and memory of seven unprecedented years, in England.
Seven years ago this film project began a modest document, a depiction and celebration of trades, traditions, cultures, religions, living spaces, of contemporary as well as ancient rituals in England. But as unprecedented events began to emerge and then unfold across the country, the film evolved into an expanded project, the camera a witness to recent history’s most extraordinary years. Shot exclusively on 16mm film, by photographer and filmmaker Paul Daly, over seven years, Mirror With A Memory is both lucid diary and poetic map, a journey across an island - its relationships, customs, rifts and bonds, with a diverse range of individuals, communities, and historic events.
